Gosh, I love these. I'm glad that you are well and still funny as hell and coming home safely soon.
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
And should I die before I wake
I pray the Lord my toys to break, so none of the other kids can play with them.
God bless Shel Silverstein!

Hey Seth,

Now what I am worried about is flooding in China that occurred "near Hong Kong." I am not sure it is the flooding that I should be worrying about since reading your last couple of entries.... and then there is the white water canoing!

I am at Ann and Richard Courtney's in Truro at the Cape. Heading out to the beach while the sun is out for a little while between storms.

Looking forward to your being back stateside...and seeing you in August. Keep safe.

The link to the pictures is in an earlier blog post, but I just added a link on the blog (look on the bottom right, it says "first china pictures" and should take you to the shutterbug website).

1) Seth, thanks for the good info, nice to hear from you, drop me an e-mail sometime (sethcarrier@gmail.com) and let me know what's going on with you.

2) Jen, I did go to sleep away camp (though thank god never an all girls one) and two, college was a little different. People all over the place yes, the same nine other people all day every day no. I didnt have a roommate or suitemates in college (except for my hideous freshman year roommate -- Jeff, if you happen to read this, I'm sure you've changed and grown immensely as a person since we were roommates, so no hard feelings), so that experience probably would have been a little closer.

And lastly, yes, for a month, communal living is kinda cool.

Interesting question, that... there's a lot of things that lord only knowls why we do them. This one seems relatively harmless, given all the other problems the US is having right now.

Well, now that I have gotten the gist of how to make a comment, I have a couple to make. First, every new and most good teachers know the value of a good lesson plan--didn't take you long to catch on to that one. Second, have you posted pictures and if so, how do I access them?

Cool to see Seth Schoen is still alive and keeping up with Seth Carrier.

I like this website--I know more about what goes on with you in China than I do with life in Philly. Keep those stories coming.

American League won the All-Stars!

love you

So it is clear from your explanation of your living situation that 1 - you never went to sleep away camp. 12 girls in one big open bunk sharing space for 7 weeks all summer, yup you get to know people pretty damn quick and 2 - You have errased from you rmemory the days of college dorm life. Everywhere you turn, people all of the time. At least that was my exerience. I kinda miss that. I think it would be nice to live communlly again - well, maybe not permanantly, but for a month might be cool.

Enjoy

Hey Seth,

That puzzle is known as the Monty Hall Problem.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monty_Hall_problem

You can also do an experiment using a computer simulation like Monty Hall's Hall of Doors. See http://www.crummy.com/articles/monty/

I hope you continue having fun in China!

Dude! From another abroad: Why is it that everyone knows when Independence day is? Because USers are clever! No one calls Bastille Day "16 th July", otherwise we's all know when it is!

Wait! Theres a flaw there. Swiss national holiday is only called "first of August" and no one else knows when our holiday falls. And y'all should! Because on first of August, the number one activity on that day is traveling abroad!

Be well!
